I was born in the Dominican Republic, and grew up in Spain. Now living in the United States, my background gives me a unique perspective in a lot of things. Growing up, as a multilingual and multiracial student, activist and writer, I was keenly aware of the economic discrepancies that abounded around me. I was particularly aware of the issues that plagued women and children of lower socioeconomic backgrounds, or who were immigrants.

This ignited my desire to help others, and I have now made it  my career, combining it with my love of writing. Currently, I am Operations Manager for Planned Parenthood of North Florida. On the writing front I have contributed to CNN iReport, The Huffington Post, For Harriet, and The Grand Rapids Press among others. Educationally I am currently attaining my second degree, in Paralegal Studies, before pursuing a Bachelor's degree.

I've won awards from the Michigan Community College Press Association, the Michigan Press Association, and the American Model United Nations.
